Hello again. It has been over a year since I made a post. This is unacceptable. I am really going to nail myself down and get on a schedule. Once a week. Even if nothing exciting is happening. That's where I get stuck, you know. Feeling like I don't have much to say, so there is no reason to post. Alas, onward and upward!
Some things have changed a LOT in a year, and some things not so much.
My last post was about a new addition to the family. A tiny gray baby named Suki.
Would you like to see how much she has changed?
She is a small cat by nature, but where did my teensy weensy baby go??
On the subject of kitties, when Suki hit 6 mos, I could tell she was bored. A human can only entertain a cat so much.
Enter, kitty #2, Kaia (Prounounced kie (like pie) uh.)
These are my girls. I love them both so very much. Kaia is our sweet baby. She loves everyone, and she is very vocal when she wants attention.
Suki, ahh Suki. She is MY baby. She has recently (just after she hit a year old) decided that she is the queen and ruler of the house, and that no one outside of immediate family is welcome.
She hovers at my feet, growling at anyone that comes within range of touching either of us.
She gets most agitated when there are 3 or more people visiting, mainly because she cannot keep an eye on all of them at once. So, when these types of visits occur, I put her up just to ensure that no one gets scratched or bitten. (I would be positively mortified!)
We also took in Audrey's rescue kitty Pixie ( I will have to post a pic later).
She is a 9 year old patchy ragdoll, and is an absolute sweetheart!!
So, 3 fur babies now.. and no more! We have a lovely balance in our home right now and I do not want to tip the scales!
Now, for crafty bits! A LOT of crafting has been going on in my world. I have much to get around to showing, but for now, I will start with the most current.
This past weekend, we started a complete bedroom makeover. I decided it had to be a seaside/oceanic theme. (I truly do miss having the ocean just a stones throw away, even though it has been 12 years since I lived that close)
Jay has been doing a lot more art lately, yay!
So, he built us a desk for two, and painted an abstracted seaside on the surface for me!
8 feet long, 4 feet wide!
I positively LOVE it! It works so well for us, and opens up a ton of room that used to be eaten away by our two bulky desks.
While he did this, I started painting the furniture.
The bed:
As you can see, Kaia just couldn't wait for me to finish making the bed before she had to show her approval!
The Bookcase, which I did entirely by myself as a surprise for Jay:
I do not have a picture of the dresser yet, as I am still working on a piece for it.
Now that all of the big stuff is in place, it's time to start adding the fun decoration bits!
Bit one, the lamp:
A fresh coat of paint and a quick and fun lampshade!
There will be more decorating bits and bobs forthcoming. We are working on a pretty stringent budget right now, so it may take a bit of time before I can finally say it's done. That's ok, though. It is going to be perfect!
Please forgive the dullness of most of these pictures. They were taken with my camera phone, and our lightbulbs are currently a yellowish light.. which I have already said must go! Once we started putting the painted furniture in the room, I realized just how drab those bulbs make our room feel. So, in with white light!
I do believe I will end here for the day.
Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful weekend!
